It was Bernard's turn to give it a whirl, and the drunken men seemed uncatered too, and with him not being there yet, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get them focused on some music.

"Been a awhile since I had to perform. Maybe you all know this one. How about you all stand in line and sing along best you can, alright?" It had been some time since he's had to perform, much less know of the lyrics to this, but maybe, if he was lucky, the drunken lot would be able to fill in the blank for him.

His voice may not have been the most pleasant, but hopefully the drunks help drown out his off-key performance to make something a bit more pleasing.

He returned the salutes with a raised glass of his own. Afterwards he went from story to story in quiet contemplation. Well imagine his surprise when he happened on his brother at last. Singing bawdy tunes more in line with Hadrian's disposition to boot.

Hadrian waited patiently for his brother's performance to wrap. While he did he grabbed another glass of wine and filled it up. Once Bernard finished singing he walked up glass in hand and offered it to him.

"Did we swap places or something? Shouldn't you be singing the patriotic stuff while I get drunk and sing Rosey's praises?"

"Working different crowds, brother. Thank you" Bernard takes the glass and raises it to those who helped sing along. "You'd make all the full blooded patriots proud with that rendition, I'd say." Bernard drank the wine for a long moment and looked around. "How'd you do today? Manage to unload some bottles for us?"

"Several casks, about ten bottles, gave away two of the cheaper ones. But we lost one of the well aged dark reds in the boat race."

He swirled the wine around and gave it a sniff before taking a sip.

"The one with blackberry, cherry, and tobacco notes. I had a tracker on it but the damn thing shattered against the rocks. Total loss." He sighed. "I've had nothing but bad luck since I got to Cidrit." Another sip. "Please tell me you've sold some yourself. Dad bought, supposedly, soostone pendants for mom, Amalie, and Sara two months back. He said they were from Hagal, but come on." He rolled his eyes.

The drunk crowd sang along and cheered and made various vocalisations, some of them rude, approving noises. Bernard only built up their taste for rowdy songs.

"Flaming Dames!" The call returned once Bernard had led them back onto this repertoire, soon repeated manifold, and someone decided to sing it despite some eye-rolling from the female side of the gathering.

Cheers and boos were both heard, and the bold guy got a heavy smack on the head from his female partner.

Bernard laughed and sang along with the others with the song, not to mention his beau being none to appreciative of the song. Clasping his hand on his brother's shoulder. "Fine work. Wouldn't stress too much over the loss, as good of a vintage as it was." He smiled and drank more of his wine "I will admit, while you were cooking up a storm, I went around and suggested a few wine pairings for the meals. Many of those wines we have in stock, of course. So I did sell a few, and hopefully we'll have a few stop by soon to order more before we head off again."

He grinned at the merriment and sipped his wine some more. Watching the one guy get a head smack reminded him of their sister's husband. Which made him turn back his attention to thoughts of the vineyard.

"Hmmm, not bad. Eileen's fish dish would pair nicely with our Moscato Bianco. Did you pass around business cards? Or introduce yourself last name, first name?"

"Everything seems to be okay with your memory!" She smirked, fixing her hair to align with the flower crown. "And maybe! I don't know what would be more exciting about the pond, if it there was or wasn't a crocodile lurking in it. What do you think?"

"I imagine that swimming with you would always be more exciting than swimming with a crocodile. Perhaps with a little less biting," Razar replies, drinking the cidrit.

Trust me little brother, being in the military is as merit-based as it is a game of leadership playing favorites; you have to perform your duties as well as sell yourself in order for the leaders to take notice."

He placed his cup down and little and clinked it against Hadrian's. "So have a little faith in your big brother. We'll offload our stock in no time between the two of us.."

"You'll never know until we try." Suri listened to the Flaming Dames with a bit of a pout, as if she disliked the narrative suddenly imposed on her own flirtations. But I suppose we've already seen that I can't forget you, so it doesn't really apply here does it?" He begins strolling in a direction away from the party. "I'm partial to Doukas' pond in the vineyards. You ever visited? Quiet fishing spot, surrounded by vineyards, has that old gazebo? I'm sure nobody will be there right now during the festivities. We could definitely catch up with some peace and quiet."

"The way you describe it makes it feel like the perfect place to go." Suri left the increasingly drunk crowd with little remorse, looking up his shoulder at him as they were walking. "Do you think Doukas won't mind if we trouble his fish?"

"Their family always lets folks use the pond as long as people clean up after themselves. We're just making sure there's no crocodiles in there to keep the other visitors safe, so I'm sure they'll actually appreciate us helping out," Razar replies with a wink.

[Kannon]

"That's very convenient for both us and them." She winked back." We'll need a bait for that, won't we? To lure the crocodile ashore."

"What do you think would make the best bait?" Razar asks, curious. "Should we see if someone has leftovers from the food stalls earlier? Maybe we can bring enough to have a little picnic while we're there? Maybe crocodiles like cidrit? We could bring a bottle along as well."

"You and I both know there's nothing left of the boar." She smirked. "Nor do crocodiles drink cidrit." She bit his arm playfully. "But your own joke suggests a radical solution. It just might work."

"We'll have to try live bait then," Razar says with a chuckle. "But I see that even if we don't find any crocodiles I'll have to watch out for biting."

"You've been away for so long I bet you've learned to withstand that." She raised to her toes to nip his ear. "Or that. I wouldn't entrust myself to you as a very exposed bait if I didn't believe you can defeat those crocodiles."

Meanwhile, at the bonfires, a woman of some visible Muadh ancestry decided to sing a song that seemed so odd and ancient tracing it to any particular pasts or events was impossible. It could resonate regardless.
