- 3 years ago, Atreides troops took part in a major offworld conflict as allies of House Ecaz. They were deployed to Grumman for the final battle of the War of Assassins between House Ecaz and House Mortitani. In result of the battle of Ritka, House Moritani was undone, though losses were substantial for both the Ecazi and the Atreides.
- 2 years ago, Earl Rhombur Vernius, a staunch ally of Duke Leto, was assassinated. Political changes on Ix thereafter have unravelled the alliance. Since then, the Duke has become more active in the politics of the Imperium to build new alliances.
- A year ago, ailar, also known as Caladan drug, became popular in the Imperium as a recreational replacement for prohibitively expensive melange. It has proven very addictive and in worrying number of cases lethal.
- Less than a year ago, Duke Leto was almost killed during the orbital bombing of Otorio orchestrated by Jaxson Aru, terrorist proponent of the dissolution of Imperium and replacing it with the Noble Commonwealth. The Aru family, presiding over CHOAM, denounced Jaxson.
- Less than a year ago, Lady Jessica, Duke Leto's longstanding Bene Gesserit concubine, advisor and the mother of his son Paul, was recalled from Caladan by the Sisterhood. Speculations about a political marriage for the Duke or his son have restarted.
- Less than a year ago, Lord Attik challenged Duke Leto to a duel holding him responsible for his son's death due to ailar overdose. The duel didn't come to pass as Lord Attik had been mysteriously assassinated the night before.
- Less than a year ago, moonfish industry collapsed on Caladan due to appearance of parasitic mites in their breeding areas. Harkonnen sabotage has been blamed.
- About half a year ago, the source of ailar was discovered in the north - a camouflaged illegal operation of barra fern plantations. Barra ferns, endemic to Caladan, have long been used as a ritual hallucinogen by the Muadh populations of Caladan, but the drug cartel run by the ringleader called Chaen Marek had managed to increase the potency of the ferns. A large-scale military deployment was needed to destroy the plantations as the cartel mounted fierce resistance.
- A few months ago, Duke Leto secured an alliance with House Mutelli thanks to his personal intervention during a Landsraad debate on CHOAM audit of Harkonnen operations on Arrakis [Details Here].
- Duke Leto has now been absent from Caladan for a few weeks for unknown purposes, as has been his Warmaster, Gurney Halleck. The planetary governance is currently in the hands of Paul Atreides and the House Mentat, Thufir Hawat.
- There are indications that ailar has resurfaced...
