White Hell Dive [Night 1]

[Kannon]

The night was slowly fading into orange-tinted grey. Kornephoros wasn't showing up just yet, but it was sending pickets of light across the horizon, smearing the snow with sparkles.

It was beautiful, in a way.

[Kiran Alsahar]

"We were told you might have enlisted other locals? Or is it just you?" Ambrose held up a hand up as he realized how what he'd said might come off, "Not that your help isn't already more than we could ask for. I'm just trying to account for all our avaliable resources. Also, if we need, can you get us transportation, a fishing boat or maybe even a thopter?" The hope in his voice when he asked about the thopter was obvious.

"You can be certain that what we do here is to deal a great blow to the Harkonnens."

"I think that's part of what I'm going to be doing, is putting out feelers to see if that's possible, seeing if anything can be gleaned or gathered with your help," they said, nodding to their contact. "I doubt it, given their pacifistic nature, but there's sometimes one or two people who need to express their dissatisfaction."

"They wouldn't have sent me if they thought dealing with the local people was a bad idea. Plus they've dealt with the Atreides less than my people have, so we have a chance to create a good first impression and create something we can use longer term."

[Kova]

In response to Kiran, Kova also emphasizes that one of Ambrose's worries works the other way too. "I promise you, that at this point, after some have fled our world for better opportunities, especially among the Atreides, you're not likely to find anyone that wants to so much as interact with the Harkonnen. They tend to do so only when literally forced, or when their livelihood depends on it. The Harkonnen have made their position on our livelihoods and ways clear... they don't care about them and will kill and torture to get what they want. But if you have resources and means available for trade, almost nobody will question providing indirect support if it means feeding their family a little longer and not raising a hand against the oppressors. They're more likely to sell out Harkonnen to outsiders than outsiders to the Harkonnen if it means a shot at a better life, without violence. No promises, but I'd say the situation with my people favors working peacefully with you than kowtowing to monsters."

[Ambrose Pantazis]

"I don't have much in the way of extra rations. But I am a trained medic. If anyone needs medical attention, I could offer my services. To be clear though, I can't be bogged down running a village clinic. This would be for more serious or long lasting injuries or in exchange for specific assistance. We have to stay on mission."

[Kova]

"We're mostly in decent health and there aren't many of us. So, it's appreciated, but I don't think we really need medical care as much as we need other things," Kova replies while continuing to trudge.

"They're not going to get in the way of the mission, though if you reveal any information about it they may try to talk you out of it. Which seems unlikely to succeed to me. Why travel across the stars just to change your mind and not follow your leaders orders on the suggestion of someone you don't know, right?"

The rest of the way to the Eyrie passed on scant talk on what the next steps would be.
