Backgrounds

When creating your character, please select one background.
- Military Training. Your character has been a House serviceman or a mercenary. The character can have a bonus skill rank of one of the following: Gunnery, Leadership, Melee, Any Piloting, Any Ranged, Shield, Warfare. They have access to normal melee and ranged weapons, armour and shields.
- Criminal Background. Your character has been involved in illegal activities, local or interplanetary. The character can have a bonus skill rank of one of the following: Deception, Mechanics, Any Piloting, Skulduggery, Stealth, Streetwise, Underground. They have access to most small weapons and devices that help them in illicit operations and in staying uncaught.
- Distinguished Professional. Your character belongs to the educated professional elite without being a noble. Usual characters of this group are mentats, Suk doctors, CHOAM officials, or planetologists, as well as less iconic specialities nobles would employ, like businessmen, bureaucrats, artists, or lawyers. The character can have a bonus skill rank of one of the following: Charm, Computation, Deception, Ecology, Education, Medicine, Negotiation, Warfare. They have access to the tools of their trade.
- Members of the Spacing Guild or the Bene Gesserit fall into the group. In addition to the above, their respective bonus skill ranks would be to Astrogation and Lore.
- Nobility. Your family is a part of the Faufreluches, the landed nobility of a House Major or a House Minor. The character can have a bonus skill rank of one of the following: Charm, Coercion, Deception, Discipline, Education, Leadership, Melee, Shield, Warfare. They have access to most things they desire.
- Common Folk. your character is a member of a civilian population of a planet. They possess no significant status distinction. They can be slaves, peons, or free subjects. They are usually bound to the planet of origin, at least until the moment they become protagonists. The character can have a bonus skill rank of one of the following: Athletics, Brawl, Coordination, Mechanics, Resilience, Streetwise, Survival. They only have the simplest of possessions.
- If they come from tight tribal and/or religious communities like Fremen or Jews, they can select a bonus rank of Lore and have access to possessions key to cultivating their way of life.
