Paul had led them up here. There was a forest-covered dent in the mountain range before them.

"This is your playground now. Sergeant, you will be taking over from here. I must rush to the thopter. I will be coming roughly from... that direction, up high. Once you see a flare, it's your turn to raise hell. Expect professional mercenaries with lasguns, play idiots first, as if this assault was all we could do to them. Then draw them out and let their mistake be the last thing they realise. The rest of us will be doing our part then."

He got up, smirking defiantly, sharing underdog spirit.

"Oh, and beware the electric tree eels. They are in the area. They pretend to be lianas and kick with industrial voltage."

Bern salutes Paul, smiling. "We won't let you down, sir." Before turning his back as he moved away, A deep sigh exhales from the mouth of Bern and began to assess the situation. He didn't know much he could use here. The eels sounded like something that would ruin the enemy's day, but he didn't know if that was possible to handle them with their current gear. Not to mention not knowing their predictable trails.

"Alright, Lydia, check for a trail for us to follow and see if we can establish some natural cover or even a good chokepoint for us to utilize.. Hadrian, start gathering things for traps." He motions to the others. "The rest of you, help them out. I need to see what I'm dealing with here before I can come up with a proper plan. Just shout out if you find anything important or think of something in the meantime; we don't really know how long we have, so time is a factor."

The area was densely forested. It was an advantage for hiding activities, but not great for the planning. What he'd seen so far wasn't giving him enough reference points. A pity they couldn't have flown in on a thopter and see things from above.

Lydia had no trouble locating the approach. There seemed to have been machetes used, and vegetation was quite trampled along the path. The real question was how much up she could follow that trail before being noticed either by sentries or by detection systems.

Hadrian for his part had led the foraging team. Vines for snares, sticks sharpened into stakes and ready to place, shovels ready to dig and plenty of foliage ready to cover the pitfalls. Then of course there's the sap. But he'd looked to Bern for guidance on where to put it. Guidance which had yet to materialize, so he took a look for himself...

She found a perfect sniper's ledge - sufficiently elevated to offer a panorama of the pass and the trail she'd discovered earlier as well ass offering a cover of foliage. Its advantage, however, was also its disadvantage - it was far from where she expected to see targets. From there, she could open the gates of Hades for many as long as she had the marksmanship to do so. [Cover worth 2 Setback, Extreme Range from the trail.]

And yet, everyone was expecting his orders, including Dominic, who was primarily a melee juggernaut.

"Alright..." Bern says with a large sigh. "No real choak points here that I can see, so we're going to be doing this old school. We're going to need some cover for fire and to pin them down. Hopefully Lydia found a good direction on where we can focus our ire on. From there, we do our best to keep them from going past this point for as long as possible."

Bern will cross his legs in the dirt around that area past them to indicate roughly where he was talking about. "Once they do, however,, we start going into melee and shields up. Hopefully whatever traps you made can help us stall, cause we're going to need all the time we can get. Once they cross that point, me and the big guy here will hop into the fray to give us some more time. Hadrian, you can offer cover fire where you can, but you're not much of a shot and you don't have a shield, so don't do anything too risky. Pull back if you're wounded, probably to wherever Lydia is. With that gun, she'll likely want to be providing overwatch, so figure out where she will make her home and prepare to make a exit with her if things get too rough. Please be careful while getting there too, cause of the eels and...whatever other horrors there are out there in between. We hold the line until we reinforcements fly in or we get some other indication to leave."

Another deep breath left his mouth. "Any questions?"

Hadrian shook his head. Up until the last moment he would be pondering more ways to help their cause. On his mind now were these eels everyone keeps talking about. He thinks about them trying to determine possible ways to utilize or avoid them.

"I've found the path they used" Lydia said as she somewhat appears out of nowhere again while the others were discussing "I don't know how far the trail leads before sentries or the detection system catches whoever is using it, but it should lead you where you need to go. I've found a useful cover spot to shoot from also, which will be where I go. No reason to get too close when my gun has a long range. I can lead you to the path when you're ready."

"Awesome. Thank you for that." Bern said, nodding his head. "As I said, that was my hope. You get somewhere and cover us and we'll hold the line back as long as we can. Just make sure to point out where you are to Hadrian so he can run to you if things start to go south. We plan on holding the line out here for however long we're able to. Hopefully, if everyone did their job, it won't be too long." He looked to Hadrian to see if he had anything else he wanted to chime in on.
