
The most distinctive features in the sea of lush green are two mountain ranges stretching longitudinally mostly parallel to one another, the western higher than the eastern, former one with some small snow caps despite the tropical climate. They are probably of volcanic origin as the path to them leads over smaller cones of long-extinct volcanoes sometimes ruffling the sheet of thick vegetation. The valley in between the mountain ranges perfectly fits the moniker terra incognita.

The jungle is loud, though few creatures pierce the canopy.
