Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

After listening to Hawat's, Ambrose realized he hadn't even considered the possibility they were moving spice out of that location to a new one. His assumptions and preconceptions might have cost them dearly and caused him to start second guessing his decisions. Efren's assertions cut through back t...

Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

Ambrose furrowed his brows as he considered their options. "You're right, we can't change mission parameters. At least not without updating the commander... If only we could figure a way to do both. Our priority is the primary. Perhaps we could all go out on the ice, make some arrangements there, an...

Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

"Given the timeframe we are estimating to get to this second location and back, I don't think we have the luxury of reconnaissance. At least not a round trip. Someone could possibly scout it out and then report back, waiting for the others to catch up if its actionable. I don't like the idea of some...

Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

Now that they were in a more secure location, Ambrose felt more comfortable discussing things in a less veiled manner. "First, that message from Gurney is from about twenty-two days ago. If I'm not mistaken, that was the Baron's voice we heard. It is unlikely he is still here, which is both good and...

Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

Wearily, Ambrose dipped his head towards Kova, "You have my thanks. I have a strong feeling we would be in a much more miserable and much less operable condition without your help in the coming days."

Re: By Frost, Eerie [Night 1]

Ambrose felt like he was on death's door. He'd become to acclimated to the tropical climate back on Caladan. This frigid cold was unbearable and he didn't even have anything to take the edge off. Watching Efren and Kova set camp, Ambrose went through the motions on autopilot and followed suit.

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

"This at least partly confirms what we were thinking. But you are right, we need somewhere more secure before we get too far into it." Ambrose looks across the landscape, "I feel too exposed out here."

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

Hearing Gurney's message caused a pang in Ambrose's heart as he thought of what Gurney had gone through and was going through in service to the Duke. When the other voice came on, it brought on a much more visceral reaction. The only upside to their arrogance and sadism, toying with Gurney, was it g...

Re: The House That Rabban Unbuilt [Morning 1]

Ambrose had listened with mixed emotions. Some of what Trygve said spoke him, somehow evoking both strong agreement and strong opposition. Deep down, the idealist in Ambrose could see what Trygve advocated for was the true and noble path, "the meek shall inherit the universe," but the realist in him...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

Ambrose nodded to Kova in appreciation while his gear was adjusted in local fashion. Setting out, he followed Kova and Efren's lead. While he was nominally the ranking officer on the ground, his experience was more suited to the birds' eye view from a thopter or amongst the wounded in the aftermath....

Re: The House That Rabban Unbuilt [Morning 1]

Ambrose was put on the defensive with Trygve's sudden shift in the conversation. Being a soldier meant being trained to do harm and coming to terms with having to do what others weren't willing to. Ambrose was fortunate enough to be a part of House Atreides where honor was paramount and the enemy wa...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

"Very true. In my limited experience, I've found acting naturally and like you belonged there avoided detection more than skulking about. A bit of camouflage from the animals if that's the way around here sounds reasonable." The way he said animals made it clear Ambrose wasn't speaking of birds or s...

Re: The House That Rabban Unbuilt [Morning 1]

Taken aback by the question, Ambrose tried to figure out if the man was questioning their intentions, their resolve, or their logistics. It was difficult to tell from Trygve's impassive delivery and in either case, Ambrose felt his Atreides pride impugned upon. "We are quite capable in those regards...

Re: The House That Rabban Unbuilt [Morning 1]

Ambrose cleared his throat awkwardly. He was not exactly used to being politic in a formal setting like this. Deterrence to authority he could manage, but deferring to someone outside House Atreides felt like a betrayal, so awkwardness it was. "Sadhu Trygve, thank for you having us here... During ou...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

"Well put. We can not stop at the first answer or input we receive. A complete picture is needed. There is plenty more we need to learn before we can move to action." There was a mission of utmost importance to accomplish and Ambrose wouldn't allow distractions or overeagerness to undermine them. No...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves. As far as we know, our primary objective is still in Slaughterhouse... We should get somewhere more secure to discuss our options." Ambrose looked around and above them ever wary of prying eyes and ears, even out here.

Ambrose contributed his own knowledge of what areas would have ideal conditions for a thopter flight route, the topography needed for relatively safe landing and take off, etc... ----- D1, EotB, Ecology, Ice Ice Baby, Kova boost : 2eP+2eA+1eB+3eD 1 success, 4 advantage https://orokos.com/roll/images...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

"Indeed, we would need to comendere a thopter or two for any secondary mission objectives." Ambrose turned to Kova, "Our main objective is close by, likely hidden away. But, if there's something they want to keep hidden even further away from prying eyes, that seems like a good target of opportunity...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

Looking up from the data, Ambrose shared what he surmised, "Given the interval between sightings and the range of these thopters, they likely have a midpoint layover, two days of travel to their western destination before another two days back and a day spent in the capital. Being that far out into ...

Re: Eye of the Beholder [Afternoon 1]

Ambrose pored over the eye's data and reviewed their navigation charts, occasionally muttering his thought process aloud, "Thopter flights East and West... one day layover at the Slaughterhouse... four day clear window, when in the pattern are we now? Due West ice sheets and more Buddhislamic sites....
